Alice Hyde Medical Center, Franklin County and PC
Construction officials held a groundbreaking ceremony
on Aug. 2, 2013, to commence the construction of a new
skilled care and assisted-living facility. Upon completion,
it will be the first facility of its kind to serve the Malone,
N.Y., region.
This $35 million project includes the construction of
a 98,000-square-foot, three-story skilled nursing facility
and a 22,500-square-foot, two-story assisted-living
facility. The existing Alice Hyde and Franklin County
nursing homes will consolidate into the new facility,
which will feature 165 beds and contain kitchen, dining,
living, office and activity spaces.
The new Alice Hyde Medical Center skilled care and
assisted-living facility was designed by RLPS Architects
and will open in 2015.
Gravesite beautification project
In honor of the 100th anniversary
of Alice Hyde Medical Center,
administrators spent time
beautifying the gravesite of the
Lawrence family, which includes the
final resting place of Alice Hyde, the
hospital’s namesake.
In the early 1900s, Clark J.
Lawrence, a Moira native, donated
$25,000 and challenged the
community to raise a matching
amount to build a hospital in Malone.
The hospital was named in memory
of his niece, Alice Hyde.
